Apartment Interiors in Bangalore: Before & After Projects and What They Actually Cost

Two flats in the same Prestige building. Same floor plan. The first one cost Rs. 9 lakhs to fit out. The second cost Rs. 19 lakhs. Neither homeowner was wrong. The scope was just completely different. That is the honest version of apartment interiors in Bangalore that most cost guides skip. This one does not. What follows covers what a real fitout involves, what each room actually costs in 2026, and what the gap between a Rs. 7 lakh quote and a Rs. 25 lakh finished project looks like in practice.

Key Takeaways:

  • A full 2BHK fitout in Bangalore runs Rs. 7 to Rs. 12 lakhs at standard scope and Rs. 12 to Rs. 18 lakhs at premium
  • A 3BHK at standard scope starts at Rs. 12 lakhs and reaches Rs. 22 to Rs. 28 lakhs at premium with richer ceilings and named hardware
  • Modular kitchen, wardrobes, false ceiling, and new electrical points are where most of the money goes
  • Civil prep, electrical upgrades, and hardware are what most low quotes remove. Add them back and the number is 20 to 30 percent higher
  • The plywood grade inside your wardrobe and kitchen carcasses matters more than the laminate you can see. The laminate looks identical either way. The structure under it does not hold the same

What You Are Actually Signing Up For

You have a kitchen in mind. Probably one you saw in a friend’s flat in Koramangala or saved from Instagram six months before you got your possession letter. You have strong opinions about the wardrobe and a clear view on what the ceiling should not look like. The brief sounds simple. Then someone walks the site and the actual scope starts to emerge.

A full apartment interior design fitout is not furniture and paint. It is modular joinery across the kitchen, wardrobes, TV unit, and study. False ceiling and lighting. Wall treatments. Electrical modifications for every new light point, because builder wiring never accounts for the number of points a properly lit flat actually needs. Civil corrections where the slab is uneven, the walls are out of plumb, or the plumbing traps have been left in positions that will conflict with the kitchen layout. For apartments in Whitefield, Sarjapur Road, or Electronic City, you are starting from tiles on the floor and primer on the walls. That is the starting line. Everything else is work.

Before your first quote lands, know this. Many Prestige and Brigade 2BHK and 3BHK layouts from 2018 to 2024 have structural beams that break ceiling continuity at points that do not appear on a standard floor plan. A cove ceiling design that runs clean in one flat needs a full reroute two floors up in an almost identical flat, depending on where that beam sits. Any quote done without a physical site visit has not been priced for this. It will appear mid-project as an add-on, after you have already committed.

What Real Projects Look Like: 2BHK and 3BHK Before and After

2BHK, Full Scope (900 to 1,100 sq ft)

Before: Bare walls. Standard vitrified tiles. Basic electrical points, enough for tube lights and ceiling fans. No kitchen cabinets. No wardrobes. Plain flat ceilings. Identical to every other flat in the building at that stage.

After: An L-shaped or parallel modular kitchen with 18mm BWP 710-grade plywood carcasses, laminate or acrylic shutters, and a quartz countertop. Floor-to-ceiling sliding wardrobe in the master. Hinged wardrobe with a study unit in the second bedroom. Cove ceiling in the living room with recessed downlights and a custom TV unit. Pendant over the dining table. Feature wall behind it.

35 to 45 days after design sign-off. Electrical rewiring for new light points happened before the ceilings closed. 3D renders were locked before manufacturing started. This matters because changes after production begins cost real money and real days. Those days do not come back.

3BHK, Full Scope (1,400 to 1,600 sq ft)

Same starting point. Bigger floor plate. More joinery, more lighting zones, and more opportunity for the brief to expand between month one and handover if you do not lock decisions before manufacturing starts.

After: Full modular kitchen. Wardrobes across all three bedrooms, with the master usually getting a large sliding unit or walk-in. False ceiling throughout living, dining, and all bedrooms. Feature wall in the master, compact pooja unit in the foyer or passage. And in Bellandur and Sarjapur Road apartments specifically, a finished balcony. Many developments there have balconies that are genuinely large enough to sit in. Most homeowners now want them treated as a proper room rather than left with builder railing and exposed plaster.

45 to 60 days. The 3D walkthrough is where most change requests happen. Good. That is exactly where they should happen. Changes at the design stage cost nothing at all. Changes after manufacturing starts cost time and money that nobody can recover.

Room-by-Room Cost Breakdown

These are 2026 Bangalore market ranges. The final number for any room depends on its size, the finish level you pick, and how much civil prep the site needs before joinery goes in.

A full 2BHK at standard scope runs Rs. 7 to Rs. 12 lakhs. Add Häfele hardware, better finishes, and richer ceiling work and you are at Rs. 12 to Rs. 18 lakhs. A 3BHK standard starts at Rs. 12 to Rs. 14 lakhs. Premium, with PU wardrobes and cove lighting across every room, reaches Rs. 22 to Rs. 28 lakhs. What actually shifts the number between those levels is broken down in the interior design packages and pricing guide.

The Plywood Question Nobody Asks Until It Is Too Late

The regrets Manish Jain hears most on second-opinion visits have nothing to do with the colour palette. Never about the ceiling profile. Almost always about the same thing: what is inside the wardrobe and the kitchen cabinets.

The wardrobe that starts sagging in year two has a commercial ply or MDF carcass. The kitchen cabinet under the sink that swells and splits after the third monsoon has the same thing inside it. You cannot see this at installation. The laminate on the outside looks the same whether the carcass is BWP 710 or cheap IS:303 BWR grade. After two or three monsoons in a west-facing Bangalore flat, it is not the same.

Bangalore indoor humidity regularly crosses 80 percent in west-facing rooms during June to September, particularly in higher-floor apartments without afternoon cross-ventilation. The wall paint handles it. Particle board kitchen carcasses do not. Base panel swells first. Door alignment goes next. By year three or four the whole unit needs replacing and the flat has been lived in for under five years.

According to IS:710 standards published by the Bureau of Indian Standards, BWP-grade plywood is manufactured for high-moisture applications. Phenol-formaldehyde bonding resists sustained water exposure in a way urea-formaldehyde bonded commercial ply cannot. When a quote does not state the plywood grade by IS code, ask. If the vendor cannot name it, or gives a vague answer about good quality wood, treat that as your answer.

Blue Interiors uses BWP 710-grade plywood on all structural joinery. Every project carries a 10-year warranty.

How to Read a Quote Without Getting Misled

Low quotes in Bangalore are almost always low because something has been quietly removed. The same four things, almost every time.

Civil and electrical prep. Wall levelling, fresh conduits for new light points, and shifting plumbing traps are almost never in the first quote from a volume contractor. That gap is Rs. 70,000 to Rs. 2.5 lakhs depending on what the site actually looks like. At Blue Interiors this is scoped and priced before work begins. Not discovered after the ceiling is closed and you have no position to negotiate from.

Hardware. Soft-close hardware is not a specification. It is a category. Häfele, Hettich, and Blum have rated cycle lives of 80,000 to 100,000 opens and closes. Unbranded alternatives sit at 10,000 to 15,000. That gap shows up in daily use within three to five years. Faster with children in the flat.

Carcass grade. Volume contractors routinely use particleboard or BWR plywood inside wardrobes and kitchen cabinets. The laminate finish outside is identical. What differs is whether the furniture holds up through eight monsoons or starts failing after the second one.

False ceiling scope. A line item that just says false ceiling is not a quote. No linear metres of coving, no electrical point count, no board type specified, no fitting type named. That is a number someone wrote to win a job. Not to build anything. Get it itemised in writing before you sign.

One Firm or Multiple Vendors?

This comes up at nearly every first consultation. Can you save money by separately hiring a carpenter, an electrician, and a painter?

You can try. Most people who do it spend more and finish late.

The vendors themselves are usually fine at their own work. The problem is what happens between them. The carpenter cannot install the wardrobe until the electrician finishes the internal light wiring. The electrician is waiting on the false ceiling contractor to close the ceiling before running conduits. Painting cannot start until all of that is settled. When these trades belong to separate parties, each one runs their own schedule. Nobody owns the delays that stack up between them. Nobody absorbs the cost either. You do, usually right before your possession deadline.

Apartment buildings in Bangalore add specific pressure on top of this. Most gated communities restrict site work to 9 AM to 6 PM on weekdays. Many Whitefield and Sarjapur Road developments bar heavy material movement through the lobby on weekends and require a formal NOC from building management before any work starts at all. A multi-vendor project running behind in those conditions has almost no way to recover lost days. Your move-in date does not care why the vendors could not coordinate.

For how Blue Interiors handles execution across living rooms and bedrooms, the living room and bedroom service pages show the approach and scope in detail.

Conclusion

The per-square-foot figure on a first quote is almost useless on its own. Two Rs. 9 lakh and Rs. 19 lakh projects in the same building are both apartment interiors in Bangalore. The scope was different. The civil condition was different. The materials were different. That is the whole story.

What you need before committing to anything is a full itemised scope with IS codes for plywood and hardware brands named in writing. A site visit. And an honest conversation about what the flat actually needs versus what a low quote has quietly left out.

A free consultation with Blue Interiors starts with a floor plan review and ends with a realistic number. No commitment required. The portfolio shows the finished work.

FAQs

How much does a full apartment interior design cost in Bangalore in 2026?

A complete 2BHK fitout runs Rs. 7 to Rs. 18 lakhs depending on scope and finish. A 3BHK ranges from Rs. 12 to Rs. 28 lakhs. Those figures cover joinery, false ceiling, electrical upgrades, painting, and hardware. Civil work is scoped and quoted separately where the apartment needs it.

How long does apartment interior design take in Bangalore?

A standard 2BHK takes 35 to 45 days from design sign-off to handover. A 3BHK at full scope takes 45 to 60 days. The June to September monsoon adds 5 to 7 days on average because Bangalore humidity slows painting and certain adhesive applications.

What is included in a Blue Interiors turnkey apartment package?

Design consultation and 3D renders, all modular joinery, false ceiling and lighting, wall treatments, electrical upgrades, hardware supply and installation, and a final clean before handover. Civil work is scoped and quoted separately. All structural joinery carries a 10-year warranty.

What plywood grade should I insist on for kitchen and wardrobe joinery?

Specify IS:710 BWP-grade plywood for all carcasses in kitchens, wardrobes, and storage near wet areas. IS:303 BWR is acceptable for secondary bedroom wardrobes away from humidity. Any quote that cannot name the grade by IS code should be questioned before you sign.

Can I see completed apartment projects before deciding?

Yes. The Blue Interiors portfolio shows completed residential projects across apartment types and sizes. A studio visit at HSR Layout, Whitefield, or Sarjapur Road lets you see material samples and hardware in person.
