10 Tips to Vamp up Your Bedroom
The bedroom should represent the personal island of happiness, the place to reach and taste not only when the time comes to rest, but the place to take refuge during those rainy weekends at the end of April when it is not yet warm enough outside or to release tension after a hard day at work.
- Choose light colors for the walls.
Interior designers start with the most basic and perhaps the most important make-up: light colors amplify the sense of space.
Make way for beige, dove gray, light gray, pastel, or white walls, a timeless classic. In this case, the imperative is to absolutely avoid too dense, heavy, and strong colors, which would tend to suffocate a small room making it more like a cave.
- Color only one wall
If a completely orange room gets a little overwhelming, but you don’t want to give up color, try painting just one wall or a portion of it.
The impact will be less strong, and the room will gain vitality and originality. However, even in this case, it is preferable not to use too strong or too dark colors.
- Get a container bed.
One of the most brilliant inventions ever for those who have some space problems at home! The container bed will gladly accommodate everything that means clutter in the room: clothes, shoes, sheets, and so on.
It will allow you to choose a smaller wardrobe because you can put it in there because of season change.
- Choose a custom-made wardrobe.
Because given the bedroom’s size, even the 20 cm more or less risk making the difference, and you will perceive them from the first to the last. Also, try to choose the smallest wardrobe possible, without facing a life of deprivation, and put what is not strictly necessary in other rooms.
- Make way for mirrors.
The mirror gives the perception of depth and length and also illuminates the bedroom. You could kill two birds with one stone and choose a wardrobe with one or two mirrored doors, so you can check yourself out in the morning before going to work.
Alternatively, install a wall mirror, even better if long and narrow, or place one on the dresser, for example.
- Avoid clutter
The disorder, and not just in the bedroom, is one source of visual disturbance in a larger home.
It gives a sense of narrowness and lack of space even when there is space. So try as much as possible to keep everything in its place, always.
- Don’t confuse styles.
If the bedroom’s colors and furniture reflect a classic style, do not introduce modern or industrial style furnishings. Too many contrasts would break the harmony and create confusion.
- Use few colors
Pick a dominant color, one you like, and develop the furniture around that color. For example, you could opt for light green curtains, combine a carpet or bed pillows, and some ornaments in shades of green to stay consistent.
Also, beware of the opposite problem: do not abuse the color you have chosen. Everything must remain light and pleasant to see.
- Obtain empty spaces
This might be a bit of a difficult task, but alternating between full and empty spaces helps a lot in not making the bedroom feel too cramped.
- Think about enlightenment
Away with bulky chandeliers: a pendant lamp, perhaps with an original shape, is sufficient to illuminate. Or light points positioned in different corners of the room or directly applied to the walls: they steal little space and are discreet. They will give an idea of refinement and make the room very welcoming.
